President Museveni commissioned East African Medical Vitals on Saturday. UIA Director General, Robert Mukiza spoke the event.
The Director General of Uganda Investment Authority, Robert Mukiza on Saturday narrated the commitment by the institution to establish 25 industrial parks to spur investment and development in the country.
Mr. Mukiza elaborated on the commitment during the commissioning of the East African Medical Vitals (EAMV) by President Yoweri Museveni at the Namanve industrial park.
He said there are already 11 industrial parks in the country set to accommodate agro-processing, medical manufacturing, mineral processing, textile, furniture, steel and aluminum among others. Namanve, as the leading industrial park is meant to have over 500 industries at full capacity and employ 250,000 Ugandans.
“So far Uganda has over 11 industrial parks country wide, at full capacity Namanve should have over 500 industries, investors,” said Mukiza.
He revealed that UIA is strictly dealing with serious and prepared investors ready to establish when allocated enabling facilities at the industrial parks.
“I want to state that those who haven’t met the conditions in the industrial parks, their licenses have been revoked. We give you a reasonable period,” he added.
Mukiza thanked President Museveni for gracing the occasion and giving all the support to the UIA in the journey to attract and promote investments to create wealth and jobs, increase exports volume and import substitution.
“I want to express my appreciation to H.E the President for gracing this event. At full capacity, this plant should be able to supply Uganda, East Africa and COMESA markets,” said Mukiza.
The East African Medical Vitals is manufacturing modern quality surgical and examination gloves among other medical consumables.
In his address Museveni said the factory is going to address medical needs
“This factory here, is coming to address the need which has been there. The need for gloves for medical Staff to protect themselves from germs from the patients and the other way around,” said Museveni.
